History

The Berea Citizen has been in existence for over one hundred years. The foundation was laid when Berea College established the paper in 1899. After eighty-five years of publication, the college released the paper to be public ownership in 1984. The 90's brought struggles & change, however the new millenium ushered in a new era for The Berea Citizen. She continues to grow & serve Berea and surrounding communities as a voice of information, education & pride.

Mission

It is the mission of The Berea Citizen to showcase the events, people & institutions that most directly touch the lives of our readers and their place in the world through dedication to information, education and the people's right to know. The Berea Citizen is published every Thursday.
